Orchard Class

"This is an outstanding school." (Ofsted)

Orchard Class

Orchard class is our 2 year old provision at Ganneys. We offer morning or afternoon sessions for our children. The morning session times are 8.30 – 11.30 and our afternoon sessions are 12.30 – 3.30.

During the session, children will have opportunities to access all areas of our high quality, stimulating learning environment, both indoors and out. They can listen to a daily story, join in with singing rhymes and songs and experiment with making music with our musical instruments.

We offer a small healthy snack during the session. This is usually a piece of fruit, cracker or breadstick and a choice of milk or water.

Our staff team are all highly experienced practitioners who plan activities to ensure children make progress and are supported in all areas or learning. Children have identified Key Workers which helps them feel settled and secure in class. This also helps the adults to understand each child's individual needs.

We have our own bathroom that offers privacy and encourages the children to be independent in toileting and hand washing. Changing facilities are also available if your child is not yet ready to be toilet trained and we can also offer support with this.

The children have access to two beautiful and inviting classrooms. One of our rooms is used for our messy play activities. These include free access to a creative area where children can use recycled materials, glue and collage equipment to create their own little masterpieces. Painting and chalking easels, water play, sand play and a playdough area is also available at all times in this room.

In our second room, children have access to our quieter activities including a book area, role play kitchen, small world play, small construction and sensory area. We also have a large block and construction area where the children can use their imagination and develop their physical skills, as they combine large cardboard boxes and wooden blocks to build and create.

We use our gardens in all weather and we are lucky to have two to choose from. In our small garden, children can play in our mud kitchen, use bikes scooters and prams, climb and slide and construct using tyres and crates. We have areas for children to play hide and seek and quiet areas where they can sit quietly with a book or make marks using chalk, paint or water.

In our large garden we have a small forest area, a bridge and some apple trees. This area offers a fantastic opportunity to run around and enjoy being in the great outdoors with their friends!
