Can your child help put the rubbish in the bin at home.

We will look at recycling and materials that can be recycled. Can they find the recycling symbol and help put the recycling in the correct bin at home.

Can your child start to show awareness of the number 5 in the indoor/outdoor environment e.g. house numbers, car registrations, in shops and on buses.

Go on a shape hunt around your home or outside, which shapes can you find- Square, rectangle, triangle, circle. When you find a shape, reinforce the number of sides and corners.

Make 5 sets of objects, can we count out 5 sultanas, 5 cars etc. Show numbers on your fingers as you count. Count to 5 and then say “Give me 5!”(High fiving!)

When singing rhymes, present numbers on fingers, showing fingers decreasing and re-counting when we take one away or add one.

Sing/ recite rhymes at home:

Change the words of the rhymes, such as “Here we go round the garden chair, garden chair on a warm and sunny morning!” Choose something in your home. Practise self help actions, brush teeth, comb hair, wash face etc Any other skills you want to encourage?

Build a wall for a Teddy out of boxes, blocks, construction sets or whatever you have to hand. Reinforce vocabulary, sat on and off , up and down.

Make your own play snow using 1 cup of cornflour: 1 cup of hair conditioner.

Make ice / ice lollies in the freezer, showing the children the water before you put it in.

Talk about what we wear when it is cold, naming different objects such as hat, scarf, gloves.
